About Us

As a 6-time HypnoBirthing mom, I bring to my classes the experience of both a teacher and a learner–I have tried the techniques I teach and know for myself that they work.

When I became pregnant with my first baby, I was unaware that birth could be a delightful experience. After taking a HypnoBirthing® course, my husband and I were able to look forward to a positive and peaceful birth. When our daughter’s Birth Day arrived, I found that the peace, joy, and exhilaration of birth surpassed my expectations. That’s when I decided to certify as an instructor to share the joyful news of gentle birth with others.

I know and teach that birth is peaceful, comfortable, joyful, empowering, and glorious. Seventeen years and five more babies later, I am even more convinced that birth as we know it is ideal in every way.

I teach the original hypnosis for birth program, HypnoBirthing® The Mongan Method. I am a certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator and have been teaching for 19 years. I am a Gold Seal instructor in good standing with the HypnoBirthing® Institute. I am also a Faculty Trainer for HypnoBirthing® International and the Chapter Leader for the state of Utah.

I teach birth classes in Cache Valley, Utah. If you are in Logan or the surrounding area, I would love to show you what HypnoBirthing® can bring to your birth!

HOW DOES THIS CLASS COMPARE TO OTHER CLASSES?

There are many hypnosis for birth programs available. How is HypnoBirthing different?

*Many hypnosis for birth programs contain similar elements to what you’ll find in a HypnoBirthing class, but there’s only one original program with all these elements. HypnoBirthing, the Mongan Method, is the original hypnosis for birth program and has over 35 years of amazing results.

*The HypnoBirthing Institute has been collecting data from HypnoBirthing couples for all these years, which is used to provide top-notch training to HypnoBirthing educators. These educators are then able to share invaluable instruction with parents all over the world in many different languages.

*Many thousands of couples have been able to experience a safer, easier, and more comfortable birth, thanks to HypnoBirthing. We are changing the world, one birth at a time.

How will I know if an instructor is teaching the original HypnoBirthing Mongan Method course?

*There are so many versions of “hypnobirthing” out there, and it can be confusing to determine which instructors are affiliated with HypnoBirthing International. Unfortunately, some previously certified HypnoBirthing instructors have had their certifications revoked due to violating our Code of Ethics and Standards, not staying true to the curriculum, not following certification protocols, copyright infringement, etc. and they still claim to teach “hypnobirthing.”

*Our guidelines for instructors are very precise because we want all parents to receive the same high quality of instruction no matter where they attend class. The HypnoBirthing Educator Certification process is quite time-intensive and takes a minimum of several months to complete, beginning with a 32-hour workshop followed by numerous reading assignments, testing, and teaching a practice class, all of which must be scrutinized and approved by a Faculty Trainer. Educators are required to recertify each year by earning continuing education hours, remaining up-to-date on research, and performing other specific tasks. Our curriculum and materials are updated and improved regularly, so any instructor who is not currently certified isn’t teaching HypnoBirthing at all, just their own version of birth hypnosis.

WHY, WHEN, AND WHO SHOULD ATTEND CLASS?

*HypnoBirthing philosophy and techniques are beneficial for every birth. Every expectant parent should enroll in this class!

Why do I need to attend an in-person class when I can just read the book and learn about HypnoBirthing online?

*The HypnoBirthing textbook is a wonderful supplement to the course and must be read in addition to being in class. The material presented in class includes 12.5+ hours of detailed explanations, mental and visual conditioning, hypnotic exercises, and valuable feedback on a weekly basis. A person would miss approximately 75% of the course content by only reading the textbook.

*The knowledge and techniques that parents acquire during the course take time and effort to master, and this is best done in the format specified by HypnoBirthing International. Parents are able to take the time to hone their new skills under the direction of a professional educator and therefore look forward to an optimal birth experience.

WHEN should I enroll in a HypnoBirthing class?

*I’ve had parents begin the course anytime between 12-37 weeks pregnant, and during all of those time frames, parents are able to work and create a beautiful birth. The key is to take the class when you can dedicate the time and energy to practicing the many things you will be learning. I prefer that you begin your course by week 32 if possible so you won’t feel rushed as you learn and practice the class material.

Do I have to attend with a partner?

*Attending with a partner is not required, but I highly recommend that you attend the course with someone who will support you during your birth. This is usually a spouse or partner, but you may also bring a family member, close friend, doula, etc. Your birth companion will learn how to become a key part of your birth experience.

How can I make up a missed class?

*If you must miss a class during the 5-week series, you have two options. You may schedule a private make-up session with me (as long as my schedule permits, usually via Zoom) for $125. You may also attend the missed class during my next series (as long as you are still pregnant!) at no cost to you. Please check with me ahead of time for my future class schedule.

Do I need to take any other birth preparation classes?

*I happily answer “No,” to this question. HypnoBirthing is a complete childbirth preparation course and has all of the elements you’ll need to prepare for an awesome birth. We cover cultivating a positive mindset, how your amazing uterus works, breathing during different parts of labor, movement and how it helps labor progress, choosing the right care provider, the birth plan, the role of your birth companion, comfort measures, relaxation techniques, and much more. I’d be happy to email you the course outline which mentions the major themes we cover each week in class.

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS:

Is HypnoBirthing only for natural or out-of-hospital births?

*HypnoBirthing facilitates a better experience no matter where or how you birth. We believe that most births should occur without unnecessary interventions, so we do focus our instruction on normal physiological birth. We believe that a truly supportive care provider will be comfortable viewing birth as a natural process.

*Occasionally special circumstances necessitate extra assistance for the safety of mother and/or baby, and during those times, HypnoBirthing parents are calmly and confidently able to meet whatever turn their birthing takes, counsel with their trusted care provider, navigate the unexpected turn together, and emerge from their birth feeling joyful and empowered.

Will I be asleep or in trance during labor?

*The hypnosis you learn during class is really just increased mindfulness and focus to allow your body to more easily perform the intense work of labor and birth. Although many HypnoBirthers appear to be asleep, they are actually very much aware and present; they are just choosing to tune out distractions that could interrupt their labor. It takes a lot of mental energy to remain calm during the intensity of labor, and you will learn how to work with your mind to channel your energy where you need it most.
